Sarah Scheffer, a teacher at Calvary Lutheran High School, is facing allegations of attempting to kill her spouse.

Court documents reveal that a husband from Missouri, who had long suspected his wife of poisoning him, finally caught her red-handed on surveillance footage.

The accused, Sarah Scheffer, a high school art teacher aged 37, was charged with first-degree attempted murder and armed criminal action

The felony complaint, obtained by Fox News Digital, sheds light on the husband's ordeal. He suffered from extreme fatigue, confusion, blurred vision, severe cotton mouth, and nausea on eight separate occasions after consuming food or beverages. The evidence against Scheffer seems to be mounting.

On January 1st, the husband approached Scheffer after noticing a peculiar "bitter taste" in the drink she had given him, as he informed the authorities.

Scheffer supposedly confessed to him that she had peed in the drink, and then she claimed to have added a powerful adhesive to it. However, she later denied tampering with the beverage. Following that incident, the husband reportedly set up a surveillance camera in their kitchen.

The husband reported finding a bowl with a root labeled "lily of the field" on Scheffer's desk on Tuesday morning. Security footage showed Scheffer adding the contents of the bowl to a blender later that day, as she prepared a smoothie. After the husband showed the video to the police, Scheffer reportedly admitted to putting lily of the valley, a poisonous flower containing cardiac glycosides, into her husband's drink.

According to the probable cause statement, Scheffer confessed to putting a root of the 'lily of the valley' into the blender to make a smoothie for the victim with the intention of causing harm. She acknowledged being aware that ingesting 'lily of the valley' could be fatal and that her actions were illegal. The Jefferson City Police Department reportedly sent the blender contents for testing.

Calvary Lutheran High School, where Scheffer is employed as an art and design teacher, stated that she was placed on leave after her arrest.

Scheffer has been detained at Cole County Jail without any possibility of bond. The Cole County Circuit Court has not yet scheduled her court date, and it remains uncertain whether she has secured legal representation.
