Hamas fighters hand over two newly released Israeli-Russian hostages to the Red Cross.

The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed its appreciation to Hamas today for their actions in releasing two Russian hostages.

They also stated that they are actively working towards securing the release of other Russian citizens held by Hamas in Gaza

The ministry released a statement expressing their gratitude and commitment to ensuring the swift release of their citizens.

“We are grateful to the leadership of the Hamas movement for the positive response to our constant appeals,” Moscow’s foreign ministry said.

This announcement comes just a day after Hamas released the two Russian women as a gesture of appreciation towards President Vladimir Putin

The two women were safely handed over to the Red Cross in Egypt through the Rafah crossing.

“We note that the Russian citizens were given the possibility to come home without being bound by the fulfilment of the conditions agreed upon between Israel and Hamas,” Moscow said.

The number of Russian citizens held captive in Gaza was not disclosed in the official statement provided.

In contrast to numerous Western nations, Russia does not acknowledge Hamas as a terrorist group, and President Putin has consistently advocated for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Moscow has upheld diplomatic relations with both Israel and the Palestinians.
