
Eleven Dead in Pretoria Hotel Shooting
Details of the Attack
Gunmen burst into a hotel in South Africa's capital, Pretoria, on Saturday. They killed 11 people. A three-year-old child was among the dead.
This shooting marks the newest in a wave of mass attacks. The nation of 63 million battles high crime rates.
Police spokeswoman Athlinda Mathieu said 25 people got shot. Fourteen went to the hospital.
Ten died right there in Soulsville, 18 kilometers west of Pretoria. One more passed away in the hospital.
Three gunmen rushed in around 2:30 a.m. GMT. They fired wildly at men in the hotel bar.
A 12-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy died too. Mathieu called it a sad event. Police got the call near 6:00 a.m.

No one knows the reason yet. No arrests so far.
