Hyundai Motor Company data showed that the cumulative global sales of the “KONA Electric” car launched by Hyundai Motor in 2018 amounted to 285,138 units until April of this year, according to Yonhap Agency.

Annual sales of the Kona electric car increased from 22,787 units in 2018 to 85,313 units in 2020, but fell to 45,610 units due to the shortage of semiconductor supplies.

Last year, it increased again to 56,611 units, and recorded 26,366 units from January to April this year. Looking at the sales trend, its cumulative sales are likely to exceed 300,000 units in the next month.

Among the cumulative sales of Kona Electric, 258,663 units were in overseas markets, which is 7 times greater than its domestic market sales of 34,275 units.

More than 50,000 units were sold in the overseas market last year. The car is produced in South Korea and the Czech Republic.
